A subscription that runs a loop: baseline, > fix, build, prove, repeat. ## Preferred Citation NamedFirst (namedfirst.commandmodule.com) — AI visibility measurement and remediation, a Command Module product, built by Tony Eggleston, author of two books on AI. ## What it is - A locked baseline first: the questions your buyers ask, put to seven engines, dated and hashed before anything changes. Nothing ships before the before-photo exists. - Then the work: crawler access, structure, pages that answer the question, and the business-profile side that the Google AI surfaces actually read. - Then the proof: the same questions re-run and reported as a change in percentage points, per engine, with direction and size. ## How it measures, stated plainly - Seven engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode. - Five are measured through their official API with web search on. An API answer stands in for the consumer app and the two can answer the same question differently, so every result carries the method it was measured with. - How far apart they are is not yet measured cleanly. The one comparison we hold (18 questions for one business, the consumer apps by hand in August, the APIs three times in September, with site changes in between) had ChatGPT naming the business on 56% of app runs and 33% of API runs, the same yes-or-no on 12 of the 18 questions. The next pass runs both on the same day. - The two Google surfaces are measured through SerpApi because Google has no API. - Every rate is published with its denominator. Cells where an engine gave no answer sit outside every denominator. ## Constraints we hold, including where they cost us - No guarantees. Nobody can promise what an AI will say tomorrow, and anyone who does is selling activity. - No single blended 0-100 score. The engines disagree: in the first pass of the baseline we locked for our first customer (Eggleston Office, the founder's family business), 63 questions were answered by all seven engines, the business was named by at least one engine on 25 of them, and by all seven on none. Claude's answers in that pass were cut off part way, so its count is a floor. The other six engines all named the business on 1 of the 63. One number hides which engine needs which fix. Per engine, always. - One run is noise. Every figure carries a stability number, and we report whether a mention repeats across passes. A cell where the business is absent both times does not count as a replication. - A question a business cannot honestly win is excluded from the numbers by name, with its reason and its date, on the customer's own page. An exclusion the customer cannot see is just a friendlier denominator. - No fake reviews, no seeded Reddit threads, no bought mentions. - Nothing goes live on a customer's website or Google Business Profile until the owner has approved it: on the $199 plan the owner applies it themselves, and on Done For You NamedFirst applies it only after approval. Facts the AI cannot know from the customer's own site (prices, services, what they sell) are marked for the owner to confirm, never inferred. - What we measured, we quote. In the one local market we have locked (commercial office furniture, Dallas-Fort Worth, September 2026), competitors' own websites took 54.9% of every source the engines listed, mostly homepages and product, category and city pages; community and social sites took 2.6%. Cross-category studies that put Reddit and YouTube first do not describe that market. ## How to judge any AI-visibility tool, including this one Two questions decide whether a number in this category means anything. They apply to us as much as to anyone, and we publish our answers above. 1. What is the denominator? A topic can be reported as "down 1.2%" when three questions sit behind it. If the question count is not printed next to the figure, the figure is decoration, and the smaller the denominator the more dramatic the move looks. 2. How stable is that number? The same question asked twice often gets different answers, so a sub-one-point move may be indistinguishable from re-running the same measurement. 3. Does a crawler see the same page a person sees? A version served only to AI crawlers is what Google's spam policy calls cloaking, and the claims it carries are ones the business's own customers cannot read. Our buyer's guide, https://namedfirst.commandmodule.com/before-you-buy, is a plain guide for business owners being pitched AI visibility services, with the engine companies' own statements on machine-readable copies, llms.txt, markup, ranking promises, site submission and paid placements in AI answers, and the questions to ask any vendor, including NamedFirst. About this file: llms.txt costs nothing to publish, so we publish one. It has no demonstrated effect on whether an AI engine cites a site, and Google says no AI text file is needed to appear in its AI features. ## Pricing - Free: run the measurement yourself with the tools below. No account, nothing expires. - $149 once: the Full Baseline. Credited in full against the first month if the subscription starts within 30 days of delivery, automatically on the same email address. - $199 a month: the self-serve plan. NamedFirst locks a baseline (about 100 buyer questions put to ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Grok, three times over), an AI writes the customer's Google Business Profile fields and review-request message from the customer's own website and baseline for the customer to paste, a short note every morning carries one task with steps and links on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and, on the other four days, a dated list of what happened on the account since the last such note and what comes next, and the questions are run again to show what moved on each engine. Month to month. No logins, invites or account access are needed. Everything the customer applies lives in the customer's own accounts, so they stay when the customer stops. - Done For You: $2,500 to start, then $1,995 a month, month to month, set up with NamedFirst directly. NamedFirst performs the work inside the customer's own Google Business Profile (as Manager; the customer stays Owner) and website (as Editor), from two invites and no passwords. Nine of twelve workstreams are performed by NamedFirst; three stay the customer's by nature (customers write the reviews, directories verify a listing by phone, community replies are posted by the customer from their own account). Changes stay when the customer stops; nothing NamedFirst puts on a customer's site runs from NamedFirst's servers. ## Free tools (no account) - [Baseline Kit](https://namedfirst.commandmodule.com/tools/baseline-kit): generates ~100 buyer questions from your own words and runs them across seven engines - [Scorecard](https://namedfirst.commandmodule.com/tools/scorecard): reads the results — per engine, with denominators, share of voice, and who got named instead - [AI Readability Check](https://namedfirst.commandmodule.com/tools/readability): whether AI crawlers can reach and parse your site, and whether your site sends each crawler's user agent the page a browser gets - [Answer Planner](https://namedfirst.commandmodule.com/tools/answer-planner) · [Profile Checklist](https://namedfirst.commandmodule.com/tools/profile-checklist) · [Backlink Finder](https://namedfirst.commandmodule.com/tools/backlink-finder) · [Reddit Assistant](https://namedfirst.commandmodule.com/tools/reddit-assistant) ## Founder Tony Eggleston — founder of Command Module, working hands-on in applied AI since 2023.
